The deadline for payment of arrears and non-repayment of land development tax for this year (1426 Bangla year) has been extended by one month. Besides, the land service week and the land development tax fair-2020 have been suspended until further instructions.

The ministry issued the directive on Thursday under the direction of Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed.

According to the prevailing rules, land development tax is to be paid by 30th Chaitra, every year of the Bengali year. In order to prevent the global pandemic infection of the coronavirus, the government has already declared all public and private office-courts apart from emergency services a public holiday. Besides, the movement of ordinary people has been restricted by the government and some areas have been locked down.

According to the ministry, the last time to collect this year's tax was on April 13, 2020, according to 30th Chaitra 1426 Bengali year. Under the prevailing situation in the country in the coronavirus epidemic, it appears that it is not possible for both citizens and officials to collect the arrears and non-repayment of land development tax this year.

In this case, the deadline for payment of the land development tax of 1426 Bengali year has been extended by one more month for the benefit of the citizens.

In addition, a decision has been taken to postpone 'Land Service Week and Land Development Tax Fair-2020' from April 12 until further instructions for the same reason.
