Lakshmi Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community, will be observed on Sunday with due religious fervor and enthusiasm.

Hindus worship Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and Lord Vishnu’s wife, on the full moon day in the lunar month of Ashwin after the Durga Puja. This full moon day is also called Kajogari Purnima.

To welcome the Goddess, devotees clean their houses, decorate them with finery, lights, and artworks (Alpona) and prepare sweet treats and delicacies as offerings.

Devotees believe the happier Lakshmi is with the visit, the more she blesses the family with health and wealth.

In the capital Dhaka, Lakshmi Puja will be performed in Dhakeshwari National Temple, Ramkrishna Math and Ramkrishna Mission, Shankharibazar, Tantibazar, Sutrapur, Farashganj, Lakshmibazar, Radhamadhab Bigraha Mandir, Radha Govinda Geo Temple.

Besides, the festival is also performed at homes and temples across the country.

Daylong rituals of Lakshmi Puja will be performed. After the worshiping of Goddess Lakhsmi, Anjali will be offered at temples and homes followed by the distribution of Prasad. The Hindus keep fasting on the day.
