LSD drug: 5 university students placed on remand

A Dhaka court today granted five-day remand each to five students of a private university who were arrested in connection with the seizure of  Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the remand order on Monday.

The accused are- Saiful Islam alias Saif, SM Manwar Akib alias Annan, Md. Nazmus Shakib, Nazmul Islam and BM Sirajus Salekin alias Tapu.

The accused were produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court today by the investigation officer of the case with 10 days of remand prayers for each. The court later granted five days' remand to each of them.

Earlier, Saiful, Annan, and Shakib were arrested in a raid at Khilgaon community area at 10:30 pm on Saturday. At that time, 5 pieces of blot paper mixed with LSD and 50 grams of cannabis were recovered.

According to their information, Nazmul and Salekin were arrested in a raid from Baridhara Chowdhury Lounge of Bhatara Police Station. At that time, 4 pieces of blot paper mixed with LSD and a mobile phone were recovered.

According to Nazmul's information, police raided his father-in-law's house in Mohakhali TV Gate area of ​​Banani Police Station and found 4 pieces of LSD mixed blot paper, Tk 46,100, USD 100, a laptop, steel scissors, 10 transparent empty zip polybags 1 gram of illegal narcotic ice.

It is learned that all the arrested are students of various private universities in the capital. The arrested persons were conducting business activities by opening 13/14 online groups with their associates. They used to collect this horrible drug LSD mixed blot paper from different countries and bring it to the country through courier as parcel and through various means including luggage.

A case was registered at Khilgaon police station on Sunday.
