India struck early with Vijay Shankar trapping Imam ul Haq right in front but since then Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam have been slow but steady for Pakistan. India were dealt with a huge blow in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was ruled out of this match with a hamstring injury.

Earlier, Opener Rohit Sharma hammered 140 while Virat Kohli hit 77 as India put on board a challenging 336 for five. Rohit scored his second century of the tournament and 24th ODI hundred overall. He gave India a great start along with opening partner KL Rahul, who scored 57. Kohli then took charge but India lost their way slightly towards the end, especially after the rain delay. Mohammad Amir returned with three wickets for Pakistan.
