The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won only two of their last six matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before the tournament was postponed due to Covid-19, however, the team started their domination in the second phase. Eoin Morgan’s team has won two matches in a row and now they beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets.
After losing the toss in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians scored 155 runs after losing 6 wickets. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave a good start in the opening. The pair scored 78 runs of partnership where Rohit scored 33 runs off 30 balls and de Kock scored 54 runs off 42 balls. Later, Pollard was run out for 21 off 15 balls and the pace of Mumbai’s run became slow.
KKR’s two openers Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer started the storm while chasing the run. When the pair scored 40 runs in 3 overs, Gill was bowled out by Bumrah and returned for 13 runs. Then Iyer formed a big partnership with Rahul Tripathi. Although Iyer did not get 50 in the previous match, this time he picked up his half-century.
However, after a while, Iyer returned for 53 runs off 30 balls. Captain Morgan returned for 7 runs but Tripathi crossed the rest of the road alone. The batsman was unbeaten for 74 runs off 42 balls and left the field after winning the team.
