Kishore Kumar’s 33rd death anniv today

There are very few names in Bollywood who have managed to cast their spell on everyone’s mind with their talent – and one such name was Kishore Kumar. The 33rd death anniversary of this legendary singer is observed on Tuesday. He was born on August 4, 1929, and passed away on October 13, 1987.
Kishore Kumar was a powerhouse of talent. At one time, he ruled over the whole of India. That is why he is still alive in people’s minds through his works.
He was simultaneously a singer, songwriter, composer, actor, film director, screenwriter and record producer. He is considered to be one of the most successful and greatest playback singers in the Indian film industry.
As a teenager, his elder brother Ashok Kumar achieved great success in the Hindi film world in Bombay. This success had a profound effect on Kishore Kumar. From an early age, the teenager became a big fan of the famous singer Kundan Lal Saigal. He sang Saigal’s songs by imitation.
Kishore Kumar sang in various Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Oriya and Urdu. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Backing Singer eight times and also holds the record for most Filmfare Awards in the same category.
