Seven people including Nodi Akhter, one of the kingpins of the international women’s trafficking ring, were arrested from the border area.

According to Police, Nodi is the “top wanted/kingpin” of the women’s trafficking ring. If she is arrested and interrogated, more information about the international women’s trafficking ring will be known.

Meanwhile, the statements of the arrested accused in the case of women smuggling gave confessional statements and revealed the horrific images of women trafficking in India recently.

They informed that Nodi, one of the leaders of the women’s trafficking syndicate and TikTok Hridoy Babu used to work as coordinators in Bangladesh on behalf of Sabuj, who is currently stationed in India.

“Nodi is one of the kingpins of the women trafficking syndicate,” said several responsible sources in Bangladesh and India, mentioned that “she used to persuade the teenage girls in various ways and hand them over to the traffickers”.

Besides Bangladesh, Nodi’s name has also come up in the investigation of the Indian police.

It is to be mentioned that at least five escaped teenage girls, who were the victims of forced prostitution in India after being smuggled, recently filed a case with Hatirjheel police station in the capital – where Nodi’s name was mentioned in the accused list.

Lastly, Nodi made prime accused in the case filed by three India-returnee teenage girls on Saturday.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) said. Shahidullah said

“Several people who had fallen into the hands of traffickers had already said they had received job offers in India by Nodi. But when they went there, they realized that they have been sold,” said Md. Shahidullah, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police Tejgaon Division. “Nodi has been playing a big role in this cycle.”
