Despite a star-studded team, Jamcon Khulna could not shine in the field performance in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Two experienced cricketers of the national team Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad have so far failed to fully meet the expectations of the team. In this situation, the Khulna authorities want to rope another experienced cricketer and formal national team skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza.

Mashrafe suddenly came to Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur last Tuesday to do the practice. From then, it has been heard that the former captain of the national team can play the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

The board has not yet commented on Mashrafe's participation in the tournament. However, Jamcon Khulna has officially expressed interest in rope Mashrafe before receiving any formal confirmation from the BCB.

Jamcon Khulna manager Nafees Iqbal said, "Mashrafe is such a player, whom anyone would like to recruit him. We have also shown interest in him if he is fit for playing. Separate feedback should also be taken from the board about his condition and fitness.

He added that the board had a policy that Mashrafe's name was not drafted at the beginning. But later when he is included many teams may show interest to rope him. We are also interested in recruiting him.

Meanwhile, Fortune Barishal chairman Mizanur Rahman claimed that they are the first team to show interest about Mashrafe.

“We are the first team to show our interest about Mashrafe and applied to the board to recruit him for our squad,” Mizanur Rahman said.

The board has the policy that if more than one team wants any particular player, the decision will be decided by lottery.
