Khulna trader fined for onion price inflated

A mobile court today fined a trader named Taher Patwari for selling onion at exorbitant prices in Khulna.

The court led by district administration's executive magistrate Mizanur Rahman fined the traders Tk 1 lakh on Saturday afternoon.

The executive magistrate said that on Friday night, onion traders from Chattogram brought a truck onion to Sohail Traders in the Baro bazaar of Khulna. Although the import cost was Tk 155 per Kg and including accessories costs per kg was Tk 175, Taher Patwari was selling onion Tk 215-220 per kg in wholesale. 

Sohail Traders owner Taher Patwari was fined Tk 1 lakh and sentenced to three months' imprisonment in failer to pay. The fine was paid immediately.
