A Cumilla court adjourned hearing on charge framing against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and a bail petition submitted by her in a murder case lodged against her in 2015.

Judge Habibur Rahman, Additional District Sessions of Judge Court-1, on Monday fixed the next hearing on January 16 this month without conducting the hearing of the case.

The matter has been confirmed by Khaleda’s lawyer Advocate Kaimul Haque Rinku.

Advocate Kaimul Haque Rinku said, “Before the bail hearing date of Khaleda Zia has been changed more than once. Cumilla court is not giving bail to her, neither rejected. There is no scope to go to the High Court.”

According to the case details, eight people were killed and at least 20 others were injured when assailants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Jogmohanpur of Chauddagram during the 20-party alliance’s movement on February 3, 2015.

Chauddagram police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nuruzzaman filed the case against 77 people over the incident.
