On the fourth day of the Kandy Test, Bangladesh’s goal was to take all the wickets of Sri Lanka as soon as possible. Staying away from achieving the target, the Tiger bowlers could not take a single wicket! The frustrating day came to an end by halting the game due to lack of light.
At the end of the fourth day of the first Test of the two-match series, the game has now moved towards a draw. At the end of the day, Sri Lanka scored 512 runs for 3 wickets. Both Dimuth Karunaratne and Dhananjaya de Silva was unbeaten for 234 and 154 runs.
Sri Lanka started the fourth day with 229 runs after losing three wickets. Karunaratne and Dhananjaya have been playing defensively from the beginning. They gradually increased the speed of the run.
Karunaratne and Dhananjaya added 102 runs in the first session of the day. Meanwhile, Karunaratne scored the tenth century of his career. The Sri Lankan captain reached this milestone with 247 balls to spare. At the end of the day, he turned his innings into two hundred digits.
Karunaratne played only 140 balls to reach the double ton, making the first bicentenary of his career. The way he is playing, a triple century on the fifth day is not impossible for him.
At the other end, Dhananjaya also picked up a century by batting well. On the morning of the fourth day, the all-rounder completed his fifty by playing 102 balls. Then he became more aggressive. He played only 51 balls to add the next 50 runs. The batsman is leading the innings in tandem with the captain.
Sri Lanka is on the way to a big score with the help of these two batsmen. They are just 29 runs behind Bangladesh before the game ended due to lack of light. Cricketers think that the Sri Lankans can throw a medium goal to Bangladesh by increasing the lead by playing a little in the morning on the fifth day.
We will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to know what will happen in the end. However, according to the current course of the match, a draw likely a possible result of this match.
