Karate coach Humayun Kabir Jewel dies

Bangladesh Karate Federation executive member and former coach Humayun Kabir Jewel has died at the age of 52. He was the well known face of Bangladesh and international karate.

He was admitted to the city's Green Life Hospital on Monday. He died there at about 8:00 am on Tuesday. He was an executive member of the Bangladesh Karate Federation, a judge/referee of the Asian Karate Federation and a licensed coach of the World Karate Federation. He survived by a son and a daughter and wife.

Humayun Kabir's wife and children live in New York, USA. He was last seen with his family 3 years ago. He could no longer travel to the United States as his visa expired. Could not get visa due to paperwork problem. That is why he was away from his family for 3 years. 

In his untimely death, the President of the Bangladesh Karate Federation Mozammel Haque Khan (Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission) and General Secretary Mr Kya Shai Hla (Chairman, Bandarban District Council) expressed their deep condolences.
