Kamran’s body reaches Sylhet
The body of Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) and central executive member of Awami League, has reached Sylhet at his own residence around 12:30 pm on Monday
His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at 2:00 pm at the Chharrapar Jame Mosque. After that, his second Janaza will be held at Manikpir Tila in the city following the hygiene rules.
Later, his body will be buried next to his parents’ grave at Manikpir Tila as per Kamran’s last wish.
Asad Uddin Ahmed, former general secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League, confirmed the information.
Earlier, Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka around 3:00 am on Sunday. His body was taken to Sylhet by an ambulance from CMH around 7:00 am on Monday. He was 69. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
He was infected with Covid-19 on June 5. The next day, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to Sylhet Shaheed Shamsuddin Hospital. When his condition worsened, he was airlifted to the CMH in the capital on June 7. There, on June 8, Kamran was given plasma therapy. The former president of the Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League died on Monday morning after failing all efforts.
