Family members said he died of old age complications. He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Sha Abdul Mutalib worked as Netrakona district correspondent at different national newspapers including Daily Sangbad. He also was associated with different socio-cultural organisations.
The body was taken to Netrakona press club at noon where his colleagues and leaders of different socio-cultural and political organizations, including deputy commissioner Netrakona Main-UL-Islam and general secretary of Netrakona press club Shamolendu Paul, paid last respect to him by placing wreaths at his coffin.
His Namaj-e-Janaza was held on Bairaura Jam-e-mosque premises after Johr prayers on Thursday. A large number of people including freedom fighters, political leaders, journalists and civil society members joined the Janaza.
Later, he was laid to rest at his family graveyard at Bairaura village with state honor.
