A court in Dhaka today has granted remand to eight people, including Aminul Islam Hannan alias Japani Hannan for killing businessman Abdur Rashid at Ainushbagh Chadnagar area in the capital’s Dakshin Khan over a dispute.

Besides Japani Hannan, the remanded accused are Ikramul Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Al Amin Pradhan, Zahurul Islam Ripon, Khorshed Alam, Mosharraf Hossain and Nurun Nabi.

The accused, on the other hand, appealed remand cancellation. After hearing both sides, the court granted four days remand to Japani Hannan and two days remand to the other seven accused.

According to case details, a heated argument took place between the two sides on Wednesday (March 24) over sand theft. At one point, Japani Hannan shot dead Rashid in front of Hannan’s house ‘Japanese Cottage’ at Ainusbagh water pump road in the capital’s Dakshin Khan area. Later, the locals took Rashid to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The victim’s family filed a murder case against 13 people, including Japani Hannan, on Wednesday night with Dakshin Khan Police Station.

Police later arrested seven people, including Japani Hannan. At the time, police recovered two firearms, including a shotgun from Hannan’s residence.

It was learned that a dispute between the families of Japani Hannan and Abdur Rashid was going on over waste-business for a long time.
