Jamuna water rising again in Sirajganj

After a five-day decline at Sirajganj and Kazipur points, the water level of the Jamuna River has started rising again. With this, the water level in the Jamuna increased in the fourth phase in the last two months.
The water level of Jamuna was recorded at Sirajganj point on Monday afternoon at 13.71 meters. In the last 24 hours, the water level has increased by two centimeters and flowing over 36 centimeters of the danger level. On the other hand, 15.56 meters has been recorded at Kazipur point. Which has increased by four centimeters in the last 24 hours and is flowing 31 centimeters above the danger level.
Sirajganj Water Development Board Deputy Assistant Engineer Ranjit Kumar Sarkar said water was rising in the Jamuna. However, after two days of increase, it will start declining again.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Abdur Rahim said that the water of Jamuna has increased in four phases since the beginning of June. As a result, 1 lakh 18 thousand families in 64 UPs of seven upazilas of the district have been affected by long-term floods.
He said 563.5 metric tons of rice, 5890 packets of dry food, and Tk 8 lakh in cash have been allocated for the flood victims.
