Jahangirnagar University (JU) today decided to hold final examinations of different academic sessions including masters virtually.

The decision was made at a syndicate meeting where JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam was in the chair.

The syndicate body has finalized the policy on taking the final examinations of different batches including masters on the basis of the academic council meeting's recommendation.

The meeting also decided on the virtual evaluation process includes assignments, open-book exams and viva voce.

According to the newly-formed marks distribution rule, 10 marks will be allocated for the open book test, 10 marks for an assignment, and 30 marks for online viva voce as part of the final examinations amid the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

Later, 50 marks will be converted to 70 and student's in-course examination and class attendance will together carry another 30 marks to evaluate their CGPA.

The decision comes at a time when the university students have been staging demonstrations on the campus for a long time to resume classes in person and reopen dormitories.
