The nation is going to celebrate its most glorious day, the Great Victory Day tomorrow, on 16th December. We pay tribute to the liberation-war martyred on the day. Therefore, Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been decorated with the red and green colors in before the nation’s 49th Victory Day. It becomes a colorful city now. The different lighting behind the green leaves has added extra beauty in the night.

On the days immediately before the Victory Day, people across the country buy the country’s red-green flags and ribbons bearing the logo of victory, Jahangirnagar University was not the exception. Hawkers are selling red-green flags in front of various roads and buildings in the university campus.

Talking with Abbas Ali, a hawker who came from Bhola district to sale Victory Day flags, it is learnt, he can earn about 500 bucks per day excluding all expends on this occasion in the campus.

There, I met with Biplob Kanti, a second-year student of law and justice department at the university. He said, “We love the country at other times of the year, but in a few months, including December we can express our love.” So we bought the flag. “Bengali is a passionate nation. We know how to express emotions. So on the days of the different festivals, we express emotions through various events.”

Meanwhile, various programs have been taken from the university administration on the occasion of the Great Victory Day. Among them, the national flag hoisting at the administrative building and residential hall of the university during sunrise, and the wrath tribute to the National Memorial at 7:15 am under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor. Besides, tributes will also be paid on behalf of the administration of various halls and teachers, officials and employees. From 16th December, a three-day exhibition of books and documentaries on the Liberation War will be started in the central library of the University.

In addition to this, a cultural program titled 'Victory Song' will be organized at Selim Al-Din Muktamancha on December 16 afternoon in the initiative of the Student Welfare and Counseling Center. Besides, special meals have been arranged for the students on the occasion of Victory Day in all residential halls of the University.

“Different programs are generally observed on the occasion of the Great Victory day in our university. This time it has consistency too. Good food has been arranged in each residential hall.” “We have prepared all the preparations for the celebration of the 49th Great Victory Day in a festive atmosphere and in due diligence,” the university’s president of the Provost Committee and the director of the Teacher-Student Center, Professor Bashir Ahmed told the DailyBangladesh.
