JS passes Bangladesh National Archives Bill in amended form

The National Archives Bill-2021 of Bangladesh has been amended by repealing the National Archives Ordinance and adding new detailed rules and regulations.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid proposed to pass the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Thursday.
Bill Archive Establishment Activities, Formation of Advisory Council, Functions, Appointment of Director General and his Powers, Responsibilities, Delegation, Selection of Official Records for Preservation, Public Access to Records, Prohibition on Export of Documents, Public and Private Records Specific provisions have been made in the archives for permanent preservation, including annual reporting, offenses and penalties, power to make rules and power to amend schedules.
JS MPs Mujibul Haque, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Shamim Haider Patwari, Harunur Rashid, Mosharraf Hossain, Rumin Farhana, Rezaul Karim Bablu sent the bill to the Public Opinion Verification and Selection Committee and an amendment was adopted. The rest of the proposals were rejected by voice vote.
