The Jatiya Sangsad will go into its budget session for the 2021-22 fiscal year on June 2. The session will start at 5pm.
President M Abdul Hamid convened the budget session today exercising the power bestowed upon him as per clause (1) of Article 72 of the constitution, said a press release of Jatiya Sangsad secretariat.
The national budget for the 2021-22 fiscal will be placed in the House on June 3, Deputy Speaker Dr Fazle Rabbi Mia confirmed this.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will place it in the parliament
According to sources, the budget session will be short this time around as the last budget session due to coronavirus pandemic and will be followed health guidelines. The size of the proposed budget this time could be around Tk 6 lakh crore.
The budget session for the fiscal year 2021-22 is the 13th session of the current 11th National Assembly. This will be the third budget presented by the current Finance Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal. And the current Awami League government's 13th consecutive budget. All MPs and officials related to this budget will be tested for coronavirus. Relatively young MPs will be encouraged to attend the session.
A covid-19 negative certificate will be needed to get in touch with the Prime Minister during the session. The activities of the session will be conducted with the minimum number of persons. Visitors will be barred from entering Parliament. The maximum use of information technology will ensure social distance.
