‘Iti, Tomari Dhaka’ competes for Oscars 2021

‘Iti, Tomari Dhaka’ (Sincerely Yours, Dhaka), the first anthology film of Bangladesh, produced by Impress Telefilm, is going to compete for Oscars 2021 in the category of ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ award.
Recently, the Bangladesh Oscar Committee selected the film after watching both films at the Ashirbad Films office in Kakrail.
Habibur Rahman Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Oscar Committee and Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies, film researcher Professor Abdur Selim, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, president of Directors’ Guild Bangladesh, and director Shameem Akhter were present at the meeting.
‘Iti, Tomari Dhaka’ (Sincerely Yours, Dhaka) — highlighted with stories of the struggles of the underprivileged people, and their survival. 11 young directors have made this film. They are — Abdullah Al Noor, Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, Ghulam Kibria Farooqi, Mahmudul Islam, Mir Mukarram Hossain, Md. Rabiul Alam, Tanvir Ahsan, Nuhash Humayun, Rahat Rahman, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan and Syed Ahmed Shawki.
This film has been featured at the international film festival since last year. So far, the film has been screened at least 20 festivals. Lastly, it has been screened at the ‘8th Jaffna International Film Festival’ held in Sri Lanka.
Earlier in October last year, the film started its journey at Asia’s biggest and most prestigious film festival ‘Busan International Film Festival’. The film was then screened at several film festivals in Indonesia, Russia, Cambodia, Canada, England, and South Africa including India’s Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, and Chennai.
