Island upazila Hatia declared ‘coronavirus free’

Noakhali's Island Upazila Hatia has been officially declared ‘coronavirus free’ by the Upazila Health Complex on Saturday morning.
The announcement was made because the latest corona patients got recovered and there were no other corona patients.
Dr. Nizam Uddin Mizan, medical officer of the upazila health complex, said that so far 722 samples have been collected in Hatia. Of these, corona was found in the bodies of 122 people.
The announcement was made as a man named Zakir Hossain of Ward 3 of Hatia Municipality was infected with coronavirus and 15-day later on October 9 he was reported negative. And now there is now no other patient.
Earlier, ABM Noman, a bank official of Ward No. 2 of Tamarddi UP in the upazila, died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka due to coronavirus infection. This is the only death in this upazila.
Samples are collected at Hatia mainly on Saturdays and Tuesdays of every week. These samples were sent to the lab of Noakhali University of Science and Technology. The results are available two days later. This trend is still continuing. Besides, a 20-bed specialized isolation unit has been set up for Coronavirus patients at the Upazila Health Complex with the financial support of local MP Ayesha Ferdous and Upazila Awami League president and former MP Mohammad Ali.
Meanwhile, on the day of declaring coronavirus free, samples were collected as three people had coronavirus symptoms on Saturday, the Upazila Health Complex said.
