Irfan, his bodyguard on 3-day remand

Irfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahid were put on a three-day remand in the Navy officer assault case.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Adadijjaman granted the remand on Wednesday.
Earlier, Investigation Officer in the case Ashfaq Rajib Hasan, also inspector (investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station, submitted a remand prayer to the court for quizzing them.
On Sunday night, Irfan Selim, son of Dhaka-7 MP Hazi Mohammad Selim, and his associates physically assaulted navy official Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan near Labaid Hospital at Dhanmondi's Kalabagan area.
On the same night, Lt Wasif lodged a case against four named accused, including Erfan Selim and 2-3 unnamed persons. The three other named accused are - AB Siddique Dipu, 45, Md Zahid, 35, and Md Mizanur Rahman, 30.
Later on Monday, a mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) sentenced Irfan and bodyguard Zahid to one year in jail for possessing illegal walkie-talkies and drinking liquor.
