Irfan Selim removed from councilor post

Irfan Selim, son of MP Haji Selim, has been be removed from the post of councilor as he was sentenced to jail by a mobile court.
A notification in this regard has been issued by the Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) on Tuesday.
Earlier in today morning, LGRD minister Md Tajul Islam told Irfan would be dismissed today as per law. He (Irfan) will then be dismissed permanently after a full investigation.
Responding to a query from reporters, Tajul Islam said, “Whoever he is, he must be punished for his evil deeds.”
“No one is above the law,” he told reporters.
Earlier on Sunday night, Dhaka-7 MP Haji Mohammad Selim’s son Councilor Irfan Selim and his fellows attacked Navy officer Lieutenant Md. Wasif Ahmed Khan. The incident took place near Kalabagan signal in the capital.
After that the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Irfan from his father’s residence at Devdas Lane of Swarighat in Old Dhaka on Monday afternoon following a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station by Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy for assaulting him.
Nevertheless, Rab raided in a house of Dhaka-7 MP Haji Selim while Two firearms, 38 walkie-talkies and liquor were recovered.
Then A mobile court of Rab on Monday sentenced Irfan Selim and his bodyguard Zahid to one year in jail for possessing illegal walkie-talkies and drinking liquor.
