Irfan Selim gets bail

Irfan Selim, ousted ward no. 30 councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) who was charged for carrying drugs and walkie-talkies by RAB’s mobile court, has been granted bail.
Dhaka Additional District Magistrate granted him bail on Tuesday in the case of possessing drugs. Earlier on 3 January, the court granted him bail in a case for carrying a walkie-talkie.
Irfan Selim’s lawyer Sri Pran Nath confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh. “Irfan Selim was appealed to the Dhaka Additional District Magistrate’s Court against the sentence given by the RAB’s mobile court. Following the hearing, the court granted him bail,” he said.
RAB raided the house of Irfan’s father Haji Selim on October 26 in Bara Katra of Old Dhaka. At that time, a mobile court of RAB sentenced Irfan Selim to one-year imprisonment for possession of drugs. His bodyguard Md. Zahid was sentenced to six months for carrying a walkie-talkie.
Then on October 26, RAB-3’s DAD Qayyum Islam filed four separate arms and drug cases against Irfan Selim and bodyguard Zahid with Chawkbazar police station.
Meanwhile, the probe report against Irfan Selim and his bodyguard Zahidul Mollah and other accused in the case for beating and threatening to kill a naval officer is scheduled to file.
Lieutenant Wasim Khan, a naval officer, was beaten by people in MP Haji Selim’s car in Dhanmondi on the night of October 25. The next day, the victim filed a case with the Dhanmondi police station. Four accused including Irfan Selim was remanded and questioned in the case.
