The interbank transaction service has been launched after five consecutive days and two working days. Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Sirajul Islam confirmed this on Sunday.

Sirajul Islam said the interbank cheque transaction has been fully launched on April 18. The service was also a bit on Thursday. Interbank transactions are done through National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) under Bangladesh Bank.

Earlier, the interbank cheque transaction service was suspended on April 13 due to technical fault in the optical fiber of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL). The Bangladesh Automated Cheque Clearing House (BACH), Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer was closed.

Central bank officials said the problem was caused by the disconnection of the optical cable connecting between the two data centers of Bangladesh Bank. Many customers suffer from this.

Incidentally, NPSB was launched in all banks and financial institutions of the country under the Central Bank on December 27, 2012. Through interbank transactions, the customer can complete the transaction by depositing instant funds from his account as well as depositing cheques from one bank to another.
