Injured AL leader dies in Rajshahi

A local Awami League leader, who was injured in an attack allegedly by BNP activists on Sunday, died in Rajshahi on Monday morning. The death toll from the attacks in the district has risen to three.

The deceased was identified as Ismail Hossain, son of Azhar Ali of Palpur-Dhamrpur village under Godagari Upazila. He was the convener of the election committee of Palpur-Dhamarpur School and College center.

Metropolitan Police spokesman Additional Deputy Commissioner Iftekhar Alam said that there was a clash between Awami League and BNP activists during the polling at the Palpur-Dharmar School and College center in Godagari, Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore).

Ismail Hossain was seriously injured in the incident. Later, he was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he died on Monday morning.
