Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has urged the Indian entrepreneurs, especially the north-eastern states of India, to invest in Bangladesh, saying the country’s investment environment is the most liberal one in South Asia.

“Indian entrepreneurs can invest in Bangladesh’s different potential sectors as the country is providing all sorts of support to the investors,” he said while speaking as the special guest at the two-day ‘Bengal Business Conclave’ at the West Bengal of India on Wednesday, said a press release here today.

Chief Minister of the West Bengal Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the conclave as the chief guest while Finance, Industry, Trade, and MSME affairs minister for the West Bengal government Dr. Amit Mitro, among others, delivered speeches on the occasion.

Humayun said Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country has achieved remarkable success in all socio-economic indicators.

“The export volume of the country has been increased to US40 billion in fiscal 2018-19 which was $16 billion in fiscal 2009-10. The country’s youth are playing significant roles in hi-tech and innovation,” he added.

Political leaders of South Asia, senior diplomats, businessmen, entrepreneurs and technologists of the 36 countries have participated at the event.
