Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is set to get the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army during his visit to Kathmandu in November this year.
Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane will travel to Nepal in the first week of November in a bid to repair the relationship between the two countries. This would be the first Indian high-profile visit to Nepal since the relations between two neighbours took a hit.
The Chief of Army Staff will travel to Nepal early next month, said an official, as quoted by PTI.
Officials also said, the visit was approved by the Nepal Government in February but it was postponed due to lockdown across the world to prevent the coronavirus infection.
According to the Nepal Army spokesperson, during this visit Consul Mrs. Vidya Devi Bhandari will confer the honorary rank to General Naravane in a ceremony.
Meanwhile, Chief of Nepal Army, General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, was also honored with an honorary General of the Indian Army by President Pratibha Patil in December last year.
