India is reintroducing tourist visas after tackling coronavirus outbreaks. Foreign nationals will be able to apply for a tourist visa from October 15.
Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sanjeev Kumar Bhati confirmed the matter on Thursday.
The country’s foreign ministry said initially only passengers on chartered flights would be issued visas. However, from November 15, passengers on all commercial flights will receive visas.
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the first 500,000 foreign tourists to apply for India after the resumption of international travel would not have to pay any visa fee.
