India threw 133 runs target before the host Australia in the opening match of the women's Twenty20 World Cup 2020. India lost the toss and elected to bat at Sydney Showground Stadium. Losing 4 wickets, Indian girls could collect 132 runs in 20 overs.

Deepti Sharma scored the highest 49 runs for the team. In addition, Shefali Sharma scored 29 and Jemimah Rodriguez scored 26 runs.

Australia's most successful bowler Jesse Jonasen took two wickets for 24 runs. In addition, Elsie Perry and Delissa Cummins took one wicket each.
