India expels two Pakistani diplomats on suspicion of espionage.
India’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the two officials appointed for the Pakistani diplomatic mission had been fired for “inconsistent conduct”.
The two sacked officers were ordered to leave India within 24 hours, the statement added.
The two expelled Pakistani officials have returned to the country. A spokesman for the Pakistani embassy confirmed the information.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has condemned the order to expel two Pakistani officials. The country has summoned India’s Chargé D’affaires in Islamabad in this regard.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry has called the allegations baseless. They said India’s move was a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
