Illegal cable eviction operation begins

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has started the process of evicting illegal cable connections in the areas under its jurisdiction through mobile courts.

On the first day of the operation on Wednesday, the eviction was carried out from City College on Mirpur Road in Dhanmondi to Labaid Hospital, in the vicinity of Jigatala bus stand and in Gulistan and Fulbaria Market areas through Nagar Bhaban.

DSCC’s Property Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Muniruzzaman led the operation at Road No. 2 to 4 and Jigatala in Dhanmondi, and Executive Magistrate Irfan Uddin Ahmed led the operation from Bangabazar Traffic Signal to Nagar Bhaban in Gulistan and Fulbaria Market area. Both the mobile courts ended the first day’s proceedings at 4.45 pm.

Executive Magistrate Irfan Uddin Ahmed said the operation would be carried out in the adjoining Banga Bazar, Anandabazar area starting from Fulbaria Market tomorrow. 

Regarding the ongoing illegal activities, Md. Muniruzzaman said, “Following the instructions of the DSCC mayor and in accordance with the ‘Cable Television Operation Act-2006’, we will continue our activities against illegal cable connections in the DSCC area.” 

“We will start the next day’s activities from Jigatala tomorrow,” he added.
