The Indian Premier League (IPL), the popular franchise-based T20 tournament, starts in the UAE on Saturday amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will meet in the opening match. The match will start in Abu Dhabi at 8:00 pm Bangladesh time.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has decided to field after winning the toss in the first match of the 13th IPL.
This year’s IPL is being organized in a stadium without spectators. Besides, there is no cheerleader who has become one of the affiliates of IPL. About this, the BCCI has said that the dance of the cheerleaders in this critical situation of the country is “completely meaningless”. The franchisees have agreed to the decision of the board.
Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians will miss match-winners like Lasith Malinga. Meanwhile, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who said goodbye to international cricket, is returning to the field after almost a year. The two teams will want to start the first match with a win.
