IGP urges buyers, sellers to wear masks

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed urged the buyers and sellers to wear masks in order to combat the spread of coronavirus.

He made the call at an exchange meeting with leaders of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association on what needs to be done to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the conference room of police headquarters on Tuesday.

All police commissioners, range DIGs, and district police superintendents were present online at the meeting.

The IGP said both shopkeepers and buyers must wear face masks while shopping. Sanitizer or handwashing should be provided at the entrance of the shop or shopping mall.

He added that the body temperature must be checked when entering the shopping mall. People have been asked to avoid crowds while shopping or entering shopping malls. In the case of large stores, the position of the buyer should be marked with a round mark.

The IGP urged traders, shop owners, and the general public to maintain health guidelines while buying and selling ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Dr. Benazir Ahmed said, "If we all follow the government rules and regulations, the rate of coronavirus infection and death will decrease. Life and livelihood must be run amid this pandemic. We have to go ahead by coordinating.
