Nasima Begum, chairman of National Human Rights Commission, has welcomed the verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Rohingya genocide in a case filed by the Gambia.

National Human Rights Commission strives to ensure the protection of human rights of the Rohingya who have fled to Bangladesh and term the brutal torture and genocide as genocide.

Nasima Begum said all Rohingya children, from old to young, were subjected to brutal torture by the Myanmar army, which is a gross violation of human rights.

Referring to ICJ's directive to stop genocide, the commission chairman said directives would put pressure on the Myanmar government to stop the Rohingya genocide.

The chairman of the Human Rights Commission emphasized the implementation of the directive of the ICJ and said that the Rohingya have no option but to return to their homeland by ensuring human rights.
