Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, also known as the ‘Narail Express’, the most successful captain of the Bangladesh ODI Cricket team, has turned 39 today. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has greeted him on his birthday.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was born on October 5, 1983.
The ICC has given a post on social media on the occasion of Mashrafe’s birthday, written, “36 Tests, 220 ODIs and 51 T20Is. Besides, 390 international wickets and 2955 runs.”
The ICC further wrote that “he (Mashrafe) led Bangladesh in 117 matches across formats - the most for his country. Happy birthday to Mashrafe Mortaza!”.
Mashrafe broke into the national side in 2001 against Zimbabwe and became a sensation immediately. He was then arguably the fastest bowler for the country.
Later, through the turmoil of an injury-prone career, he established himself as the leading bowler for Bangladesh. The injury caused him to miss out on playing the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Mashrafe, popularly known as the Narail Express, is one of the most successful captains ever in the history of Bangladesh cricket and has led the side to many heroic victories under his tenure. Mashrafe was also the former T-20 captain.
He joined active politics before saying goodbye to cricket and contested in the parliamentary elections. He won the election and was elected as a Member of Parliament from his native Narail-2 constituency.
