Public bus services resumed in compliance with the hygiene after two months long break due to novel coronavirus pandemic. However, hygiene and social distancing are not being followed in the bus terminals of the capital.

There was little preparation for using disinfectants and maintaining social distance while getting on and off the buses. Although three disinfection tunnels have been set up at the Mohakhali bus terminal, one is operational while the other two are yet to ready for use.

However, different types of hygiene preparations have been seen in buses of different companies. Some buses used disinfectants but were not provided with temperature measuring devices. Workers at the terminal have also admitted that those who are using it are not trained. They say they are not accustomed to these uses and have not been given enough time, which is causing some problems.
On the other hand, the passengers have also complained of taking an extra fare. They say they are being charged 60 to 70 per cent extra fare.

BRTA Executive Magistrate Samirul Islam told reporters after inspecting Gabtoli bus terminal that buses were carrying passengers while maintaining social distance and using disinfectant spray. However, the issue of taking extra rent did not come to his notice.
