A wild elephant herd including cubs has entered the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park at Dulahazara in Chakaria of Cox’s Bazar.
The hungry elephant herd is divided into two groups and currently took position inside the park.
“The elephant herd has been entering the animal feed garden inside the park every evening for the past one week and returned again to a safe place before dawn,” said Md. Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, acting caretaker of the park.
Park authorities have issued a red alert and are keeping the park staff on high alert so that the tourists-visitors who come to the park cannot go near the wild elephant herd location, he added.
Abul Kalam, a resident of the Kaiardeba area on the border of the park, said that 22-23 elephants, including cubs, are divided into two groups and enter the park every evening near the homestead. “We are terrified,” he added.
