Human trafficker killed in Teknaf gunfire

A drug trader and human trafficker named Mozaher was killed in a gunfight with police in Cox's Bazar. The gunbattle took place in the area adjacent to Hariakhali Marine Drive on Friday morning. Three policemen were injured in the incident.

The deceased Mozaher is the son of Hakim Ali of Hariakhali area. The injured three policemen are SI Iftekharul Islam, Constable Sikandar, and Mahfuz.

Police claimed that the deceased had been involved in drug and human trafficking for a long time. A man named Manju was stabbed to death in the same area. Mozaher was the main accused in the murder case.

According to Teknaf Model Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das, a police team went on an anti-drug and human trafficking operation in the area adjacent to Hariakhali Marine Drive in Sabrang UP on Friday morning. At that time, drug and human traffickers got police presence and opened fire on them.

Three policemen were injured in the attack. Later, the police also opened fire for self-defense. After the situation calmed down, bullet-pierced Mozaher was rescued from the spot with five thousand Yaba, an LG, five rounds of fresh cartridge and six rounds of bullets. Later, he was taken to Upazila Health Complex Hospital where doctors declared him dead. His body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

He further said that the police will continue to eradicate those criminals involved in drug and human trafficking.
