Howrah erosion causes panic among Akhaura’s people

Erosion has occurred in Howrah River in Moniyanda area in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria due to continuous rain for several days. In the meantime, some houses have been washed away by the river that makes the people on the banks of the river terrified.
According to the victims, the Howrah River has eroded due to continuous rains and hill slope for several days. If the measures are not taken to prevent erosion, many people will lose their lands.
UP member Humayun Kabir said that at least 13 families on the banks of the river are still at risk of erosion. These families have been living in that place for a long time.
Meanwhile, UNO Tahmina Akhter Raina of Akhaura, Akhaura municipality Mayor Takjil Khalifa Kajal, District WDB Officer Md. Mohiuddin, Upazila Disaster Management Officer Tapas Chakraborty, Moniyanda UP Chairman Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan visited the areas affected by river erosion.
Akhaura municipality Mayor Takjil Khalifa Kajal said the minister had instructed the concerned authorities to take necessary measures after being informed about the matter. We already have started the work.
UNO Tahmina Akhter Raina said that the work has started to prevent the erosion of the Howrah River while the necessary assistance will be given to the victims.
