Homegoing, homebound passengers’ influx at Shimulia-Banglabazar

People of South Bengal have started returning to the workplace in the capital Dhaka after celebrating Eid with their families. The day after Eid, on Saturday, there is pressure of homegoing and homebound passengers at Shimulia Ghat in Munshiganj.
Many passengers who could not go home before Eid are going home on Saturday, resulting in the increase of passenger pressure on the Shimulia-Banglabazar route of the Padma River.
It is learned that the passengers who stayed at the workplace were gathered at Shimulia Ghat from early morning to return home. However, the pressure of Dhaka-bound people started increasing from 9 am.
Meanwhile, more than 400 small and big vehicles are waiting to cross the Shimulia Ghat along with passengers and vehicles. There are currently 16 ferries plying this route.
About this, TI Hilal Uddin of Mawa Traffic Police said there is a pressure of people at the ghat. Ferries are plying regularly.
Prafulla Chauhan, assistant manager (commerce) of Shimulia Ghat, said there has been pressure from both sides since morning. Only a few ferries crossed in the morning. There are currently 16 ferries plying this route. About 400 small and big vehicles are waiting in the ghat area. All passengers and vehicles are being crossed in phases.
