The holy Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated across the country with due religious dignity on Thursday night. According to the Hijri calendar, Muslim Ummah celebrates the 14th night of the month of Saa’ban as Shab-e-Barat, the night for good luck. On this glorious night, devout Muslims from all over the world will be engrossed in more Nafl prayers, Quran recitation and zikr in hopes of receiving the grace of the Most Merciful. Many Muslims will fast during the day. Donate to charity. People will raise hands to get forgive the sins of the past life and the well-being of future life.

In addition to worshiping on Thursday night, various types of Halwa, Phirni and Bread will be prepared on the occasion of the Holy Shab-e-Barat. These foods will be distributed among relatives, neighbors and the poor.

After the evening, many will go to the cemetery. Everyone will pray this night, seeking the forgiveness of the souls of their loved ones who have gone beyond the sight. But this time, the government has urged the countrymen not to go to the graveyard after dusk to avoid public outcry for the coronavirus situation in the country. At the same time, instead of going to the mosque, people were asked to worship at home.

On the occasion of the Holy Shab-e-Barat, the President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made separate statements. In these words, they wished greater unity of the Muslim Ummah, welfare of the nation and world peace.
