Holy Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated all over country

The holy Eid-ul-Azha, one of the major religious festivals of Muslims across the country is being celebrated today (Wednesday, July 21) with religious solemnity.

This year's Eid is being celebrated amid Covid-19 pandemic fear. The epidemic coronavirus has faded the joy that surrounds the Muslims centering Eid.

Eid congregation was not held this year in the open spaces under the directives of the government to curb the spread of infection.

Eid-ul-Azha prayer is held all over the country by maintaining physical distance inside the mosque and following health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government.

President Abdul Hamid with his family members and a few senior government officials offered Eid prayers at Bangabhaban Darbar hall in the capital.

This year, the Eid congregation was not held at the National Eidgah adjacent to the High Court.

The congregation in Sholakia Maidan, a hundred-year-old historical eid congregation was not held this year.

However, like the previous year, five Eid congregations were held in the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.

The main congregation of Eid was held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque following strict adherence to the hygiene rules. The congregation was held at 7 am.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior imam Imam Hafez,  Mufti Maulana Mohammad and Muazzin of Baitul Mukarram Mosque Mizanur Rahman conducted the prayers.  

Eid congregations were also held at 8 am, 9 am, 10 am and 10:45 am respectively in the same venue.

Special prayers were also held seeking continued peace and development of the nation as well as global peace and for those infected and died from Covid-19.

However, after the Eid prayers, the ever-familiar scene of the devotees shaking hands and hugging each other did not catch the eye this year.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, top officials of the Ministry of Religion and Islamic Foundation, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Joint General Secretary Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, South City Corporation Secretary Akramuzzaman offered prayers in the first Eid congregation.

Dhaka University (DU) Central Mosque Masjidul Jamia also held Holy Eid-ul-Azha Jamaat at 8 am. Senior Imam Khatib of the mosque led the congregation.  

The Muslim community across the country, including the capital, is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha with due religious dignity and solemnity. At the end of Eid-ul-Azha Jamaat, devout Muslims are sacrificing animals as per their ability in the hope of attaining the infinite grace of Almighty Allah.

Heads of departments and government agencies are celebrating Eid by formulating their respective programs.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed offered his eid prayers at the capital’s Rajarbagh Central Police Mosque Eid-ul-Azha. He took part in the first congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Azha at Rajarbagh Central Police Mosque at 8 am.

This year, a total of three congregations were held in Rajarbagh following social distance and other health safety guidelines

Besides, Eid Jamaat was held at the traditional government Madrasa-e-Alia, Dhaka Mosque and Dhanmondi Eidgah Mosque at 8 am.

The first Eid Jamaat was held at Noorani Jame Mosque in Laxmi Bazar at 8 am, Mia Saheb Maidan Khanka Sharif Jame Mosque in Laxmi Bazar at 8 am and Baitus Salam Jame Mosque at Lalbagh JN Saha Road at 8:30 am. The second Eid Jamaat was held here at 8:30 am.

The congregation was held at 8:15 am and the second congregation was also held at 9 am.

Two more Eid Jamaats were held at Karwan Bazar Amber Shah Jame Mosque at 7.30 am, Islamabad's Chawkbazar Islambagh Bara Mosque at 8 am, and 9 am respectively.

Besides, it is known that three Eid congregations were also held at Gausul Azam in Mohakhali mosque.

Eid-ul-Azha has been celebrated in the light of national programs in divisions, districts, upazilas, city corporations, municipalities and UPs across the country.

Chattogram: The first congregation of Eid was held at 7 am and the second congregation was held at 7:45 am at Dampara Jamiatul Falah National Mosque in the city. Besides, Eid Jamaat was held at 7:30 am at Laldighi Shahi Jame Mosque, Sugandha Residential Area Jame Mosque, Chawkbazar City Corporation Jame Mosque, Ma Ayesha Siddique Jame Mosque and Hazrat Sheikh Farid (R) Chashma Eidgah Maidan.

Khulna: The main and first congregation of Eid-ul-Azha in Khulna was held at 8 am at Town Jame Mosque. The second and third congregations were held at the same place. Besides, Eid Jamaat was held at Court Jame Mosque, Baitun Noor Jame Mosque Complex run by Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Central Jame Mosque of Khulna University (KU), Central Jame Mosque of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Government BL College Central Jame Mosque, Tarer Pukur Al-Hera Jame Mosque and Muzgunni Baitun Najat Jame Mosque. 

Brahmanbaria: The people of the Brahmanbaria have performed Eid-ul-Azha prayers with great enthusiasm and joy. Due to the coronavirus, the main congregation of Eid was held at the District Central Jame Mosque at 7:30 am on Wednesday keeping a safe distance in compliance with the hygiene rules. After the prayers, special prayers were offered for the well-being of the country and the nation as well as for the overcome from Covid-19.

Rajshahi: The main congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Azha was held at Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R) Central Jame Mosque in Rajshahi at 7:30 am on Wednesday. Besides, Eid-ul-Azha congregations were held at various mosques and Eidgah grounds of the city and district including Baitul Aman Ahle Hadith Jame Masjid in Kadirganj of Rajshahi City Corporation.

Barishal: Eid Jamaat was held in all the mosques of the city from 7-9 am on Wednesday in Barishal. In order to maintain social distance and avoid public gatherings, two mosques were organized in two congregations. Barishal Divisional Commissioner Saiful Hasan Badal and DC Jasim Uddin Haider along with senior officials of the administration participated in the Eid Jamaat at the city’s Collectorate Jame Mosque at 8 am. Later, special prayers were offered for the liberation of the world from coronavirus and for the welfare of the country and the nation.

Rangpur: In Rangpur, people have performed Eid-ul-Azha prayers following the hygiene rules. The main Eid Jamaat was held at 8 am on Wednesday at the premises of the Rangpur District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Complex. Earlier, Eid congregation was held at 8:30 am at the city’s Court Mosque and Karamatia Jame Mosque at 8 am. Besides, Eid congregations have been held at about 6,000 mosques in Pirgachha, Kaunia, Mithapukur, Taraganj, Pirganj, Badarganj and Gangachara upazilas, including 85 in 33 wards of the city.

it is to be mentioned that people are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha in all districts of Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions. Cattle sacrifices have been performed all over the country in accordance with the religious rules and hygiene rules to tackle the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).
