Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder warned against increasing rice prices, saying there's no reason to hike the prices. Stern action will be taken against those involved in raising rice prices by syndicating at this moment.
He made this remark while distributing checks of financial assistance among the disabled and helpless in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon on Sunday afternoon.
The food minister said, “It is high time to serve the people in this scourge of coronavirus. It will not be acceptable at any cost if anyone tries to manipulate rice prices as there is no reason to hike the price illegally.”
He added that the owners of rice mills who did not give rice even after signing an agreement with the government last season will be punished for one to three years.
