Highest COVID-19 tests in 24hrs, record new infected

A total of 12,704 samples have been tested at 52 authorised coronavirus testing labs across the country over the last 24 hours, which is the highest in a single day.
Of these, 2911 have been diagnosed with coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 52,445. This is the biggest daily jump in the number of new cases since the first coronavirus cases were detected on March 8 in the country.
DGHS Additional Director General (administration) Prof Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure joining the daily health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through online on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 37 of the coronavirus patients have died during the time, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 709. Among the new fatalities, 33 were male and four female.
Besides, 523 new people have recovered from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 11,120, the health official said.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 6,384,205 people have been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 377,797 while 2,920,953 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
