The High Court (HC) today dismissed the bail petition of controversial businesswoman Helena Jahangir in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

The High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Badruzzaman dismissed her bail petition on Tuesday, mentioning the plea as “not pressed rejected”.

Senior lawyer ZI Khan Panna and Syed Fajle Elahi argued for the bail plea while Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, Deputy Attorney Generals Dr Md Bashir Ullah and Amin Uddin Manik stood for the state.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on July 29 detained Helena Jahangir from her Gulshan resident and seized foreign liquors, illegal walkie talkie sets, sharp weapons, foreign currencies, casino equipment and a deer hide.

The DSA case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on July 30. A fraud case was also filed against her with Mirpur Police Station and a telecommunications act case was lodged against her with Pallabi Police Station.
