Hefazat mayhem: Police seeks 10-day remand for Mamunul

Police applied for 10 days remand to Hefazat-e-Islam's central joint secretary general and Dhaka metropolitan general secretary Mamunul Haque in a case filed with Motijheel police station over 2013 Hefazat mayhem in the capital.

The petition was filed in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Thursday. 

This information was given by the general registration branch of the concerned court on Sunday. A remand hearing could be held on Tuesday, court sources said.

On April 19, the court granted a seven-day remand to Mamunul Haque in a sabotage case in Mohammadpur police station. He is currently being questioned in the case. The seven-day interrogation will end on April 26. He will be produced before the court on April 27 after remand. He will be remanded in custody for ten days after showing him arrest in the case filed over mayhem in Motijheel police station. 

Earlier, the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Mamunul Haque from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Mohammadpur around 12:50 pm on April 18.
