Hefazat leader Manzurul Islam on 5-day remand

A court in Dhaka on Monday placed Hefazat-e Islam's former Central Assistant Secretary-General Manzurul Islam Afendi on a five-day remand in a subversive case, filed with Paltan Police Station in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun passed the order after a hearing today.
Earlier on Sunday, the investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain Khan pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case.
On May 5 in 2013, Hefajat-e-Islam carried out subversive activities in the capital’s Shapla Chattar area where they unleashed inexpressible atrocities in and around the capital.
Several cases were filed against the Hefajat-e-Islam leaders with Paltan and Motijheel police stations in this connection.
