Heat weave may abate

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted that a mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Faridpur, Kutubdia, Rajshahi and Pabna and it may abate from some places in next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today. 

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.  

The Met Office also forecasted that rain with gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over the country during the period. 

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi & Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” said a Met Office release issued this morning. 

The highest temperature of the country was recorded yesterday 39.6 degrees Celsius in Jashore under Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature was 22.4 degrees Celsius at Patuakhali under Barishal division.

The sun is to set at 6.48 pm today and rise at 5.11 am tomorrow in the capital.
